Cisco BIER

Bit Indexed Explicit Replication (RFC 8279). En router som supporterar BIER kallas Bit-Forwarding Router (BFR).

Några fördelar med BIER:

• No Reverse Path Forwarding (RPF) checks
• No Rendezvous Points
• No shared tree -> source tree switchover
• No receiver driven tree building
• State is in the packet and not in the network.
